This piece covered my visit to a nursing home in New Jersey -- it prides itself on making residents of various ethnicities feel at home. Staff speak their language, and the nursing home puts on cultural events that cater to the residents' particular backgrounds. These are seniors who often emigrated to the US later in life, when learning English was more of a challenge - or people who, in their very old age, tend to revert to the language and customs of their youth.
