This post about my unexpected entrepreneurial journey was just published on Women 2.0, the site for female entrepreneurs. Check out the quote at the end (after perusing the rest of the piece, of course). I saw it on Facebook a few weeks ago and couldn't stop thinking about it. It proves my point that many parents are still raising their girls to be a certain way - neat, clean, polite, etc. Not that I'm against cleanliness or good manners. But the fact that this dad's comment was so specific depressed me. Our upbringings have a lot to do with what we feel we're capable of achieving, and if little girls are repeatedly told they need to look like X or not do Y, it will sink in and affect their feelings about their role in life.
