Why holiday parties are scaling back

Although the economy is doing well, office holiday parties are shrinking in scope, cutting alcohol completely or issuing drink tickets. Some firms have canceled theirs altogether. I spoke to an HR consultant in New York and one of her clients, a CEO, who told me he has a young staff, an open bar, and always gets nervous around the holiday party. But this year, with endless news stories about sexual harassment, he can hardly wait for the event to be over.
